My Current Camera Gear
Here is all of my current camera gear
Main Camera Body - Nikon z6 ii
The Nikon z6 ii is my newest addition and love. I've been eyeing Mirrorless cameras for a while. I am glad I waited and got the Nikon z6 ii instead of the first generation. The most significant difference I noticed between mirrorless and DSLR cameras is how well it performs under low light situations and how sharp yet "light" the images turn out. I sold my intro camera Nikon d3400 plus it's the kit lens to help slightly offset the cost of this camera since I no longer use it.
Travel Lens - Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S Lens
I got this lens with the Nikon z6 ii and opted out of the kit lens bundle for f/2.8. The Nikon Nikkor z 26-70mm f/2.8 S Lens is my primary travel lens since its zoom range works very well for walking around. The image quality is good enough for me to crop the photo if it's too wide. The only downside for this lens is its weight. I am on the lookout (or waiting for Nikon to come out with more z lenses) for an alternative.
Here are some sample shots:
I got the Nikon Z camera & lens set in early 2021! Sen and I each applied for the Capital One Venture Card to offset the cost. The card gives a sign-up bonus of 60,000 miles, which equals around $600 per card on travel credit when spending $3,000/card within the first three months. We can meet with the camera body and lens purchased separately, one on each card! I missed referring Sen after my card was approved to get an additional 20,000 points or about $200 travel credit (sad). Here is my referral link if you are interested in applying! I use this card for our day-to-day spending since it offers two unlimited miles per dollar spent. Note: Capital One Venture Card has a $95/year annual fee.
Portrait/Food Lens - Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G
I had this lens for a long time, so I purchased the Nikon FTZ Mount Adapter to use with the Nikon z6 ii camera body. If you don't have this lens, then you should go for the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S Standard Prime Lens for Nikon Z Cameras
Here are some sample shots:
Secondary Camera Body - Nikon d7200
I had this camera body for a couple of years and plan on keeping it. The main reason is that it's a crop frame camera where I can take zoomed-in photos. I now mainly use it for daytime drives paired with the Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens.
Zoom Lens - Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
The upside on this lens is its zoom range, and its being very light. The downside is that it doesn't perform well during low-light situations. So I mainly take this lens out during the day, especially on hikes with the Nikon d7200, to capture the fantastic views and details.
Here are some sample shots:
Drone - DJI Mavic Air 2
I LOVE the footage we get from drone shots! The DJI Mavic Air 2 is our first drone, and we went for the DJI Mavic Air 2 instead of the mini because of its image quality and were very happy with the choice. I love the video image quality and vantage points it provides. The only downside is that we can't fly drones at many places, especially National and State Parks. Check out FAA's Where Can I Fly for more information and how to get a fly license. We use the drone mainly for videos.
Here is a sample image:
GoPro - GoPro HERO9 Black
We had a GoPro Hero7 Black and upgraded to GoPro Hero9 Black for its upgraded resolution and stabilization. We have not used this often, though, since we have not done many videos. However, we plan to start doing some vlogging and will be using this camera for that purpose.
